In our new and welcoming location at Zavelput 20, 1000 Brussels, students get the space they deserve. This is not a coincidence but a deliberate choice: Brik’s story is written for and by students. This means that Brik involves the Brussels student in her activities and that students can count on Brik’s know-how and infrastructure. In addition, the building is located between 16 new student rooms, 4 apartments for young graduates and the international student house Van Orley. The ideal place to guide students from Flanders and the world through their academic year in Brussels.
At the official inauguration, there were students but also numerous politicians and colleagues from our partners VUB, Erasmushogeschool Brussel, Odisee, LUCA-School of Arts and KU Leuven campuses Brussels.
Bert Anciaux, chairman of Brik – Student in Brussels, and Sven Gatz, Flemish Minister of Culture, Media, Youth and Brussels welcomed the invitees.
Sven Gatz: “The initiation of Brik’s open house is more than just a new office and administrative chair. In this house, the student will be the focus. I am therefore pleased that, as a Flemish Brussels minister, I can trust the mission to encourage students to choose Brussels as a student city, to an organization like Brik.”
Bert Anciaux: “Brik is unique in higher education. First of all because different institutions of different networks and associations work together to give their students the time of their lives in the fantastic city of Brussels. Secondly because they jointly put Brussels on the map as the largest student city. And third because they jointly take care of the international appearance of Flemish higher education. “
After a symbolic tree planting in Brik’s garden, we were ready to get the party started!
