Your room quality, our label
A clear qualitylabel: the br(ik-OK label. We stimulate landlords to continuously improve the comfort, quality, hygiene and security of the studentrooms. Rooms leased by landlords who reach our quality norms, will receive a br(ik-OK label.
The green color in the file gives a good price / quality ratio. Blue also has a good quality but the price is above the reasonable average of the last academic year. These figures are adjusted annually based on all rents of all units in the Br (ik-database.
At present, around 1000 units have a quality label. These landlords meet our quality standard or have committed to complete within a reasonable time "The questionnaire regarding fire safety and comfort in the Brussels student rooms” and apply the Brussels Housing Code.
Does this mean that the other "student rooms" are of poor quality? Certainly not. These units must still be reviewed by our services and are identified by a label with a black cross and the comment 'no evaluation of the room'
The units that do not qualify for the Quality Label, but satisfy the Brussels Housing Code may be identified by a ‘green label with a cross over’ and the comment ‘no label assigned’. All landlords in the Br(ik-database do have 'The questionnaire regarding fire safety and comfort in the Brussels student rooms' completed and signed. This is only a guide to know what the building or rooms have to offer.
There always follows a visit of our services to these designations to assess and evaluate. When you notice in your room or in your house a safety or comfort problem, the landlord does not want to use the Br(ik-contract even though he advertised that, do not hesitate to contact us.
Landlords tend to be a bit shy when it comes to international students. Therefor it's very important to make a good first impression. When you want to rent a room, be sure to call the landlords instead of e-mailing. Explain them you are going to study in Brussels and mention the institution you are going to take courses.
